About Mid-City
Right in the heart of New Orleans you will discover the Mid-City neighborhood. This area of the city offers plenty of things to do, history and all kinds of beauty. Many believe Mid-City shows off the true spirit of New Orleans.
It's home to its own Mardi Gras parading society called the Krewe of Mid-City. This is the fifth oldest of the Carnival marching organizations in the city.
Mid-City was developed by Albert Baldwin Wood back in 1913. Before he developed this area it was simply swampland that was prone to flooding and mosquitoes.

Real Estate in Mid-City
Many of the homes throughout Mid-City are very brightly painted and some have very large white columns. Beautiful ironwork and stately driveways are also found throughout the Mid-City real estate.
Shotgun homes are found here in a variety of colors with beautiful window casings and doorway. It's not uncommon for homes to include large live oaks, well-manicured lawns and plenty of attention to detail. The homes in Mid-City are some of the best found in all of New Orleans.
Along with the shotgun homes, a number of other single-family home styles are found throughout. The homes also fit many different budgets with a number of affordable options and others falling into the luxury real estate category.
Most of the homes were built in the early 1900s with some newer options found throughout. While it's pretty easy to find shotgun homes, cottages and other single-family options, Mid-City is also home to condos and townhomes.
Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
One of the most attractive things about living in Mid-City is the things you can do here. You don't have to leave the neighborhood for much of anything. There are plenty of shopping options ranging from grocery stores to gardening shops to pharmacies to local boutiques. Everything you need is found right within the neighborhood making it a great place to call home.
Along with great shopping options, Mid-City is home to some excellent places to dine. Katie's Restaurant is one of the most popular and Mid-City Pizza also keeps residents happy. The Parkway Bakery & Tavern is also very popular, along with Twelve Mile Limit, Chikie Wah Wah and Pat's Lounge.
If you want to enjoy downtown, the Canal streetcar offers an easy way to get there. It's located right in the center of Mid-City making it easy for residents to enjoy the best the city has to offer.
Mid-City is also home to Rock 'n Bowl, the Crescent City Farmers Market, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. In addition, plenty of events are held here including the annual Celebration in the Oaks, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and plenty more.
Living in Mid-City
If you want to be right in the heart of New Orleans, it doesn't get much better than living in Mid-City. With plenty of homes ranging from affordable to luxurious, there's a little bit of something for everybody. The neighborhood is close to the top areas in New Orleans and living here offers a true New Orleans experience.
